When I started shooting handgun, I thought I had learned the universal foundations of shooting. Like most shooters, I went to my local indoor range and mindlessly shot holes in paper targets. My shooting skill plateaued quickly, and I stayed at that skill level for two years or so. In my small circle of friends, I was considered good, but I was far from that in the grand scheme of things. Big fish, small pond.

I wanted to get better, so I watched YouTube videos of the greats - JJ Racaza, Rob Leatham, Jerry Miculek, and Max Michel. I tried to emulate their shooting, but as I turned up the shooting pace, I discovered huge holes in my shooting ability. I quickly realized the principles, techniques, and mindset of speed shooting were vastly different than the casual shooting I had been doing at my local range. It was like speaking an entirely new language. I read through competitive shooting forums and watched as many videos as I could find. By utilizing online resources, I was able to improve my shooting ability, but never got to level I desired. If I wanted to take my shooting to the next level, I needed to learn from the best.

Ultimately, I teamed up with those I was emulating, National and World Champion shooters such as JJ Racaza, Rob Leatham, Bob Vogel, Mike Seeklander, and Ron Avery. Although they are different shooters, apply slightly different technique, and emphasize different components of marksmanship, I found common principles and themes in their shooting. The core principles they all deploy when shooting work at the highest level, and against the world's toughest competition. Their coaching was the largest influence in my shooting career, and I will always be grateful for the skills they shared, and continue to share with me. 

Now, I use these same shooting principles to compete in USPSA's Limited Division, teach the law enforcement patrol officers, SWAT teams, and work with shooters of all levels. I have been fortunate enough to win 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 1 bronze medal on the National Law Enforcement level. I continue to learn from world class shooters to not only improve my shooting game, but to ensure my students are learning the most up to date information.

As a competitive shooter, gunsmith, and certified law enforcement armorer, l possess a unique blend of tuning guns for outright performance and reliability. I specialize in tuning high end 1911 and 2011s to perfection for competition and duty use. I am also in charge of repairing and maintaining a fleet of my agency’s issued duty firearms. Utilizing this varied experience, I have created a method of tuning handguns that produces incredible results while ensuring great consistency and reliability.
